Saleyards

Rural Livestock is one of only two livestock companies with the right to sell at Canterbury Park.

Canterbury Park runs weekly prime cattle and prime and store sheep salse every Tuesday, with regular store cattle sales, along with many annual sales including ram fairs. The saleyards attract quality stock from across the Canterbury, Nelson, Marlborough and West Coast regions. Today, Canterbury Park still attracts 180,000 sheep and over 20,000 cattle annually.

Rural Livestock is a full member of the Temuka Saleyards allowing our agents to sell sheep, cattle, deer, bobby calves and pigs through the saleyards on behalf of our clients.

Livestock sold at the Temuka Saleyards comes from as far away as Southland, North Canterbury, and the Chatham Islands.

Rural Livestock is a selling member of the Balcutha Saleyards allowing our agents to sell sheep, cattle, bobby calves at the saleyard on behalf of our clients.

Livestock sold at the Balclutha Saleyards comes from mainly the Otago region and sometimes from Southland. The yards have a weekly sheep sale on a Wednesday with the prime sale starting at 10am and the store section at 11am. Cattle Sales are run on a demand basis as the selling companies agree and numbers are high enough to attract a good crowd of potential buyers.

Rural Livestock is a selling member of the Waiareka Saleyards allowing our agents to sell sheep, cattle, bobby calves and pigs at the saleyard on behalf of our clients.

Livestock sold at the Waiareka Saleyards comes mainly from the North Otago area. The yards have a weekly sheep sale on a Monday with the prime sheep section sale starting at 10am and the store section following directly after that with cattle following after that.
